The Weekly Top 20 ranks college football teams by improvement during the week.  The teams are ranked based on their net scores - the far right hand column above.  Net Score is the based on the combination of the following three factors:
1 The team's improvement in its overall rating (i.e., the Rating Change column above).
2 The team's overall rating.  Net Score is partially impacted by the team's overall rating.  For example, a team that improves from a rating of 10 to 15 will have a greater Net Score than a team that improves from 5 to 10.
3 The variability of the Division.  For example, if the D3 teams have a higher level of overall variability, then each D3 team's Net Score would be reduced somewhat to offset the higher level of overall variability in D3 football.
A team's overall rating (current rating column per above) is the combination of team's score rating and win rating.  Of the two, a team's score rating tends to be more stable (week to week) while the team's win rating can move markedly especially if the team records its first win or a win against tougher competition.  Also, a team could be listed above merely because they were underrated in prior Somis Sports rankings - Somis Sports is catching up with this week's rankings.
